Prints

A city is never finished. It is always mid-sentence — painting over what it was, building on what it hoped to be, erasing the evidence of what it could not sustain.

The Urban Surface Archive is Filippo Romano's ongoing study of ephemeral street surfaces across London. Working with a portable scanner at street level, Romano captures the accumulated layers of spraypaint, weathered pigment, torn posters and graffiti — the residue of human intervention on a city in perpetual transition.

Many of these surfaces no longer exist as scanned. Each work is a record of something already gone — a fragment of urban time, preserved.

All works are open-edition art prints, printed to order, signed by the artist and shipped from London.
