Someone was here.
Working with a portable scanner at street level, Filippo Romano captures the accumulated layers of London's surfaces — the signatures and marks of those who claimed a wall, however briefly, however anonymously. Tag is part of the ongoing Urban Surface Archive: a record of street surfaces across London that are painted over, pasted on or torn down.
Surfaces like this rarely last. Each print keeps a record of a wall as it was on the day it was scanned. Tags in this work are not the artist's own; if you recognise yours and would like to be credited, please get in touch.
