Crayon — Urban Surface Archive
Pickup currently not available
Marks that outlast their makers.
Working with a portable scanner at street level, Filippo Romano captures the accumulated layers of London's surfaces — the scored and striated evidence of mark-making, colour pressed into material over years. Crayon is part of the ongoing Urban Surface Archive: a record of street surfaces across London that are painted over, pasted on or torn down.
Surfaces like this rarely last. Each print keeps a record of a wall as it was on the day it was scanned.
