Working with a portable scanner at street level, Filippo Romano captures the accumulated layers of London's surfaces — the pale residue of mornings, surfaces that have absorbed years of light and returned it slowly. Day is part of the ongoing Urban Surface Archive: a record of street surfaces across London that are painted over, pasted on or torn down.
Surfaces like this rarely last. Each print keeps a record of a wall as it was on the day it was scanned.
